Alex Iwobi makes honest admission about Arsenal after Man City defeat

Alex Iwobi admits that Arsenal were made to pay for their poor second-half showing in their 2-1 loss to Manchester City

Alex Iwobi has admitted that Arsenal were made to pay for their poor second-half performance in Sunday’s disappointing 2-1 loss to Manchester City.

The Gunners took the lead in the first half at The Etihad when Theo Walcott slotted home from close range.

Arsenal dominated for long spells against Pep Guardiola’s men in the first half but were unable to find the crucial second goal.

The north London side were made to pay for their lack of a second goal when Leroy Sane equalised for City shortly after the break.

City then took the lead through Raheem Sterling in the second half at The Etihad as Arsenal failed to click into gear after the break.

And Iwobi delivered an honest assessment of Arsenal’s second-half performance after the game.

Iwobi told Arsenal’s website: “I guess you could say we took our foot off the gas.

“Man City took advantage very well in the second half. We were up against a tough side today, we were just unfortunate to not keep the win.”

He added: “We just have to continue the way we were playing at the start of the season.

“We just have to get that back and kick on now and prepare well for the next game.”
