Anthony Martial issues Man United rallying cry ahead of Sunderland clash

Anthony Martial is looking forward to Manchester United's second half of the season under Jose Mourinho

Anthony Martial believes that Manchester United can still enjoy a strong first season under Jose Mourinho despite the stuttering start to the campaign.

The Red Devils have struggled to find consistent form in the Premier League since the Portuguese coach’s appointment as the club’s new boss in the summer.

Indeed, Manchester United currently trail Premier League leaders Chelsea by a staggering 13 points heading into the hectic festive period in the top flight.

However, there have been signs of encouragement for Red Devils fans in recent weeks, with Mourinho’s men having won their last three games on the spin in the top flight.

And Martial insists that both he and his team-mates must stay as positive as possible as they look to end the season on a high.

Speaking in an interview with Manchester United’s website, Martial said: “We have a lot of experience in the squad and, together, we have to show what we can do to progress.

“We are a few points behind the top four at the moment, which we have got to make up, but it is down to us to maintain our good form and turn it into even more victories.

“We have to take each game as it comes but if we can continue playing the way we are and add a few more goals, then who knows what we can achieve in terms of trophies this season.”
