Antonio Conte has been thrilled with the start to life David Luiz has made at Chelsea since his return to the club

Antonio Conte has expressed his delight at the way David Luiz has been performing for Chelsea since his transfer back to the club in the summer.

The Brazilian defender secured a move back to Stamford Bridge in August, two years after leaving Stamford Bridge to join Paris Saint-Germain.

Luiz has been a regular fixture in the Chelsea first team this season under Conte and has been producing strong performances in the heart of the Blues’ back three in recent weeks.

And Chelsea boss Conte has admitted his delight at the way the defender has readapted to life at Stamford Bridge this season.

Speaking at a news conference ahead of Sunday’s clash with West Brom at Stamford Bridge, Conte said: “He’s playing great football with attention and concentration, I like this.

“He has to continue in this way. You know football, you can play fantastically but if you make mistakes it changes opinions.

“I always repeat to my players they must stay focused and continue to work. The next game is the most important game of the season.”

Chelsea head into Sunday’s game knowing that a win will keep them top of the Premier League table after 15 matches of the new campaign.
