Antonio Conte delivers latest Chelsea injury update on Eden Hazard
Antonio Conte says Eden Hazard's knee injury is not serious after he sat out Chelsea's trip to Sunderland
Antonio Conte has moved to play down the seriousness of Eden Hazard’s knee injury after the Chelsea playmaker missed Wednesday night’s Premier League clash with Sunderland.
The Belgian playmaker has been in fine form for Chelsea this season following the appointment of Conte as the club’s new manager over the summer.
Hazard has already scored eight Premier League goals for Chelsea this term and his upturn in form has been in stark contrast to his inconsistent displays last season.
However, Hazard was not risked for Chelsea’s trip to the Stadium of Light on Wednesday night as a precaution.
But Conte moved to play down the seriousness of the problem before Wednesday’s game.
Conte is quoted as saying by Metro: “No, I don’t think [it is serious].
“For this game, though, he can’t play. There are no easy games, for this reason we must pay attention.”
Chelsea are currently leading the way at the top of the Premier League table heading into the hectic festive period.
The Blues finished 10th and without a trophy last season following Jose Mourinho’s sacking last December.
