Antonio Conte delivers verdict on Chelsea signing ahead of festive schedule
Michy Batshuayi is still adapting to life in the Premier League, according to Antonio Conte
Antonio Conte has revealed that Michy Batshuayi is still adapting to the rigours of the Premier League following his transfer to Chelsea in the summer.
The Belgian striker has found his first-team opportunities significantly restricted this season following his move to Stamford Bridge from Marseille in the summer.
Indeed, the forward is yet to start a Premier League game for Chelsea following his summer switch to the west London side.
Batshuayi could be called upon for Chelsea’s clash with Bournemouth on Boxing Day after Diego Costa was ruled out of the game due to suspension.
And Conte was asked for his take on how the striker is settling into life at Chelsea following his summer move to the club.
Speaking to Chelsea’s website after Saturday’s 1-0 win at Palace, Conte said: “It’s not easy to arrive and understand and adapt to his league. I can see another example, Zaza at West Ham. I know him very well, he played with me at the Euros, and he is a good player, but in England he is having a lot of difficulty.
“This football is very tough, very physical. Michy has good quality, he’s very young, and it’s important for him to continue to work and improve, and I think this season he can have a good satisfaction.”
Conte’s Chelsea side have been in fine form in recent weeks and have won their last 11 games on the spin in the Premier League.
