Antonio Conte: I love this Chelsea player, he is like a warrior

Antonio Conte heaps praise on Diego Costa for the strong start he has made to the season with Chelsea

Antonio Conte has heaped praise on Diego Costa for the performances he has produced for Chelsea so far this season.

The Spanish forward has been in top form for the Blues and looks to have rediscovered his best displays following a disappointing season last term.

Costa, like most of his Chelsea team-mates, failed to produce consistent performances last season as the Blues ended up in 10th place in the Premier League table and without a trophy.

However, the striker has been one of the Premier League’s top performers this season and was named as the division’s player of the month for November.

And Conte, who took over at Chelsea in the summer, has been delighted by what he has seen from Costa so far this season for the Blues.

Speaking in an interview with Chelsea’s website, Conte said: “I think Diego is a real warrior and he is good for the team because it is important to have many warriors during the game because every game is a battle, a sporting battle.

“Diego is showing great patience and he can put this into the team in the best way.

“I think it is fantastic for him, for the team, for the club and for the fans. He is playing very well and we are working a lot to involve him in our play.

“He is improving a lot and Diego is showing the right part of him now.”

Chelsea won the Premier League and League Cup in the 2014-15 season under Jose Mourinho before the Portuguese coach was sacked by the Blues last December.
