Antonio Conte sends message to Chelsea fans about Michy Batshuayi

Antonio Conte has said that it will take time for Michy Batshuayi to get used to life at Cheslea

Antonio Conte has told Chelsea fans that they must be patient with Michy Batshuayi as the striker continues to adapt to life in the Premier League.

The Belgian forward joined the Blues from Marseille in the summer transfer window but has found his first-team opportunities at Stamford Bridge relatively restricted.

Indeed, the striker has not yet started a Premier League game for Chelsea this season despite making a handful of appearances form the bench.

It remains to be seen whether Batshuayi could make his first start of the season for the Blues in the top flight when Chelsea host Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge on Boxing Day in the absence of the suspended Diego Costa.

However, Conte feels that the forward still needs some more time to adapt to the rigours of English football.

Speaking at his pre-match news conference on Thursday morning at Cobham, Conte said: “I said it’s not easy to arrive in this league and to play when you are a young player, arriving in a new country.

“For me, it’s difficult to arrive and adapt in this league because it’s very tough, very physical and strong.

“Michy is working very well. We must have patience with him, to work with him, help him improve.

“The next step is to play more in this season but I repeat it’s not easy to adapt in this league, to adapt and to play.”
