Antonio Conte sends message to fans about Chelsea signing

Antonio Conte tells Chelsea fans that Michy Batshuayi needs to continue to work hard to prove himself

Antonio Conte has told Chelsea fans that Michy Batshuayi needs to continue to work hard on improving his game for the Blues.

The Belgian striker is currently getting used to life in the Premier League following his summer transfer to Stamford Bridge from Marseille.

Batshuayi was waiting to discover whether he would be handed his first start in the Premier League over Christmas when Chelsea took on Bournemouth in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge with Diego Costa suspended.

The striker was yet to start a top-flight game for the Blues after 17 games of the new campaign.

Conte has been delighted by Batshuayi’s attitude since his arrival in England but warned that the forward must continue to work hard to prove himself at Chelsea.

Speaking to Chelsea TV ahead of the Boxing Day clash against Bournemouth, Conte said: “For sure he [Batshuayi] wants to play, but it’s not easy when you have Costa in front of you who is playing fantastic football and scoring a lot of goals.

“Michy’s attitude and behaviour is fantastic. He wants to improve his technical quality and physical quality. We are working a lot with him on the tactical aspect. He is showing great commitment, great work-rate and great passion during the training sessions.

“I repeat: it’s important for Michy to continue to work to improve. I am sure his moment will arrive.”
