Antonio Conte sends warning to Chelsea fans: Do not look at the table

Antonio Conte does not want Chelsea fans or their players to get carried away with their position at the top of the table

Antonio Conte has encouraged Chelsea fans not to get carried away by the Blues’ position at the top of the Premier League table.

The west London side moved six points clear at the top of the pile on Wednesday night thanks to their 1-0 win over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

That victory was Chelsea’s 10th in a row in the Premier League and has helped to establish them as the favourites to win the Premier League title this season.

Chelsea’s brilliant form under their new manager is in stark contrast to their performances last season, when they ended up 10th in the table and without a trophy following Jose Mourinho’s sacking.

However, Conte feels that Chelsea and their fans should be purely focused on the next game rather than dwelling on their position in the Premier League.

Speaking at his post match news conference on Wednesday night, Conte said: “I prefer not to look at the table, for me and my players.

“We are doing something important up to now, but the league didn’t finish today.

“We are on top of the table but there are still three games before the end of the first part of the season. This league is very tough and until the end it will be a great battle between six teams.”
