Antonio Conte talks up Belgium star ahead of Man City v Chelsea
The Chelsea manager admits he is a big admirer of Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne
Antonio Conte has hailed Kevin De Bruyne as a great player ahead of Chelsea’s clash against Manchester City at The Etihad on Saturday afternoon.
The Belgium midfielder has been one of Pep Guardiola’s key players in the 2016-17 season so far after a return of two goals and 11 assists in 12 appearances.
Manchester City are in third place in the Premier League table but a mere point behind current leaders Chelsea ahead of the top of the table clash at The Etihad.
Conte has arguably the Premier League’s best Belgian player in his ranks as Eden Hazard continues to shine under the new Chelsea manager after a difficult 2015-16 season.
However, the Blues coach conceded that he is a big admirer of De Bruyne ahead of Chelsea’s trip to Manchester City.
“De Bruyne played with Chelsea and I think he’s a really great player. It’s a pity that he’s playing now for another team. But now he plays with Manchester City and I wish for him the best – after the game!” Conte told his pre-match media conference at Stamford Bridge on Friday.
Conte’s signed have won their last seven Premier League games since a 3-0 loss against London rivals Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
Chelsea have beaten title rivals Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur during that run.
