Antonio Conte tells Chelsea fans: I’m ready for this

Antonio Conte insists that he is relishing the hectic festive period in the Premier League with Chelsea

Antonio Conte has insisted that he is relishing the hectic festive period in the Premier League with Chelsea.

The Italian coach is gearing up for this first taste of managing a team through the Premier League’s busy Christmas period following his appointment as Chelsea’s new manager back in the summer.

Conte’s side have been in fine form in recent weeks and have underlined their status as one of the main contenders to win the Premier League title this season.

The Blues are now set to be put to the test in the coming days as the fixtures come thick and fast over Christmas and into the new year.

However, Conte insists that he is relishing the challenge and cannot wait for the busy period, despite usually enjoying some time off at this stage of the year.

Speaking at a news conference before Chelsea’s clash with Sunderland on Wednesday night, Conte said: “We are ready to face a lot of games in a few days. We are working very hard to face this Christmas period.

“It’s a new experience for me and my family. Usually over the Christmas period I’m used to having a break with my family, but now it’s fantastic to have this experience, to play during the Christmas period in a new country.

“In the past I always watched the English games in this period on TV, and now to live this atmosphere is fantastic.”
