Arsenal chasing Valencia left-back as Arsene Wenger looks to improve defence – report
Arsene Wenger wants to improve his options at left-back, according to reports in the British media
Arsenal are weighing up a move for Valencia left-back Jose Gaya, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mirror are reporting that Arsene Wenger has identified the Valencia defender as a potential target ahead of the January transfer window.
The same article states that the Arsenal manager is keen to strengthen at left-back given his current options are 30-year-old Nacho Monreal and England defender Kieran Gibbs.
Gaya has established himself as a promising left-back thanks to a series of impressive performances for los Che over the past couple of seasons.
The 21-year-old has started 12 of Valencia’s 16 La Liga games in the 2016-17 season so far.
Wenger has already raided Valencia in 2016 after Arsenal signed Germany defender Shkodran Mustafi in a £35m deal from los Che in the summer transfer window.
The Gunners have lost their last two Premier League games following defeats by Everton and Manchester City over the past week.
The north London side are in fourth place in the table.
