Arsenal fan Piers Morgan defends embarrassing tweet about Man United’s Marouane Fellaini
The outspoken Arsenal shareholder has previously described the Man United midfielder as world class
Piers Morgan has been an outspoken critic of Arsene Wenger’s transfer policy at Arsenal but the Gunners fan hasn’t always got it right when it comes to assessing “world-class” players either.
Maroauen Fellaini provided one of the Premier League weekend’s talking points after he came off the bench to concede an 89th-minute penalty at Goodison Park on Sunday evening.
Everton defender Leighton Baines placed his spot-kick past David De Gea to cancel out Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s opener and seal a 1-1 draw on the blue half of Merseyside.
Naturally, Fellaini received a lot of criticism from Manchester United supporters on social media after another erratic performance in a Red Devils shirt.
While Morgan has often lambasted Wenger’s lack of recruitment or poor signings on Twitter in recent years, the outspoken Arsenal fan was reminded that he was previously a big admirer of Fellaini.
Fellaini is a world class player. Wish we had him. #Arsenal

That was 4yrs ago, when he was.
I'd have liked Stanley Matthews too when he was world class. https://t.co/LfiptdMfVY

Arsenal are in second place in the Premier League table and three points behind leaders Chelsea.
Manchester United, meanwhile, are 13 points adrift of Mourinho’s former employers in the title race.
