Arsenal have sent scouts to watch this player six times this season – report
Arsenal are reportedly keeping tabs on Standard Liege goalkeeper Guillaume Hubert with a view to a possible bid for the 22-year-old
Arsenal have sent scouts to watch Standard Liege goalkeeper Guillaume Hubert in action six times this season, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mail has claimed that the north London side once again sent representatives to watch the shot-stopper playing last weekend during Standard Liege’s 2-2 draw with Gent.
The same story says that it was the sixth time that Arsenal scouts watched the 22-year-old in action this season as the Gunners ponder making a bid for the goalkeeper.
The article goes on to claim that Liverpool, Swansea and Leicester are among the other Premier League clubs thought to be interested in signing the 6ft 6in goalkeeper.
The goalkeeper could be seen as a potential long-term replacement for the 34-year-old Petr Cech at The Emirates, with David Ospina, 28, said to be considering a move away from Arsenal in search of regular first-team football, the report says.
Arsenal still also have the future of Wojciech Szczesny to take into account, with the Poland international currently on loan for the second season running at Serie A side Roma.
Arsene Wenger has stuck by his policy of playing Ospina in the Champions League group stage games this season ahead of Cech, though it remains to be seen whether the Colombian will keep his place for the last-16 tie against Bayern Munich in the new year.
