Arsenal legend explains why Chelsea won’t win the title this season

Charlie Nicholas says Manchester City are more likely to win the Premier League than Chelsea this season

Charlie Nicholas is expecting to see Manchester City pip Chelsea to the Premier League title this season.

The west London club have been the Premier League’s standout performers this season and currently lead the way at the top of the table after a run of 11 wins on the spin in the top flight.

Chelsea have beaten the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United in recent weeks to establish themselves as the firm favourites to win the title this term.

Manchester City, meanwhile, have been getting used to life under new boss Pep Guardiola this season and are currently in third place and seven points behind leaders Chelsea.

However, Arsenal legend Nicholas is tipping City to close the gap on Chelsea and end up winning the title this season as the Premier League race hots up in 2017.

Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports, Nicholas said: “I went with Manchester City at the start and I’m going to continue with them.

“I think Chelsea are the one who has improved and, yes, Liverpool have been exciting.

“But I think come January there will be a defender at least coming into Man City with pace.

“Arsenal haven’t got enough fluency in their game right now. I’m scared to put my neck on the line with Arsenal because they always let me down!”
