Arsenal legend Ian Wright delivers damning verdict on two Tottenham signings
The former Arsenal striker is adamant that Vincent Janssen and Moussa Sissoko aren't good enough for Tottenham Hotspur
Vincent Janssen and Moussa Sissoko are nowhere near good enough for Tottenham Hotspur, according to Ian Wright.
Mauricio Pochettino signed Netherlands international Janssen in a £19m deal from AZ Alkmaar in the summer transfer window after the 22-year-old scored 27 times in 33 Eredivisie games last season.
Sissoko became Tottenham’s record signing after his deadline-day move to White Hart Lane from Championship side Newcastle United in a £30m deal.
Janssen has failed to score a goal from open play since his big-money switch to Tottenham, netting three goals from the penalty spot in 20 appearances in all competitions.
France international Sissoko has only managed to make four Premier League starts in an injury-hit start to the 2016-17 season, although the midfielder has spent some time on the bench, too.
Former Arsenal striker Wright doesn’t believe Janssen or Sissoko have the necessary quality to improve Pochettino’s Tottenham team despite their significant transfer fees.
“I’m not having Sissoko. I’m not having Janssen. They’re not good enough,” Wright told The Sun Goals podcast.
“Janssen and Sissoko have a long way to go to prove to me that they’re the players that can give Spurs the lift to get into the top four.”
