Arsenal legend Ian Wright: This is why Chelsea are doing so well

Ian Wright has his say on Chelsea's form and Diego Costa's big role in helping the Blues top the table

Ian Wright has singled out Diego Costa for special praise for the impact he has had on Chelsea’s strong start to the season.

Costa again proved to be the difference on Sunday as he scored the only goal of the game in the Blues’ 1-0 win over West Brom at Stamford Bridge.

That victory hoisted Chelsea back to the top of the Premier League table and means that Antonio Conte’s men have now won their last nine games on the spin in the Premier League.

Costa has been in superb form this term and has already scored 12 goals in the Premier League for the Blues.

And Wright believes that Chelsea’s strong form is largely down to Costa’s impressive performances for the west London club.

Speaking to BT Sport after Sunday’s win over West Brom, Wright said: “There’s a lot of work going on at the training ground, you can obviously see that. But what is getting them over the line is that one of their top players is coming up with the goods.

“Today it was Diego Costa. He chased a no-hope ball. That was all Diego Costa and that’s sometimes all you need in a game.”
