Arsenal legend issues warning to Chelsea: This could derail title bid

Martin Keown says Chelsea are set to be tested when they travel to Tottenham in the Premier League on Wednesday

Martin Keown admits that Chelsea are set to face a stern test of their title credentials when the Blues travel to Tottenham Hotspur next week.

The west London side have been the Premier League’s top performing team this season and head into the new year flying high at the top of the table.

Indeed, the Blues have won their last 12 games on the bounce to build a six-point lead at the top of the table ahead of their clash with Stoke City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

However, Antonio Conte’s men are set to be tested when they come up against Tottenham at White Hart Lane on 4 January.

And although Keown has been very impressed by what he has seen from the Blues so far this season, he feels that they could well slip up against the Lilywhites.

Asked if Chelsea will break the record of 14 wins in a row, Keown told The Daily Mail: “It is hard to back against them — although the trip to Tottenham next week where they could equal the record may be a bridge too far.

“I played in the Arsenal side that holds the record and you become proud of these mini-records.

“From match to match you gain an extra layer of armoury and steel. When you put together such a run of victories, or go unbeaten for a whole season, you are walking on air.
