Arsenal legend Martin Keown delivers his honest verdict on Tottenham starlet Dele Alli
Martin Keown explains what he likes about Tottenham youngster Dele Alli...
Martin Keown admits that he is a big admirer of Tottenham starlet Dele Alli.
The attacker has earned plenty of new admirers since breaking into the Spurs first team under Mauricio Pochettino last season.
Alli has continued his fine form for Tottenham this season and has scored six goals and made one assist in 17 Premier League games for the Lilywhites this term.
The 20-year-old was rewarded for his fine performances last season by being crowned as the PFA young player of the year for his displays in the 2015-16 campaign.
Arsenal legend Keown feels that it is too early to judge exactly how much Alli can achieve with Spurs, but the former defender feels that the ingredients for success are there.
Asked where Alli ranks in terms of the best young players he’s seen in the Premier League, Keown told The Daily Mail: “It is too early to judge. He has certainly had an incredible start.
“Dele Alli will not get complacent. He knows that he is part of something special at Tottenham where everyone is striving for excellence.
“While playing for MK Dons, he will have experienced facilities which are the complete opposite of what he has now at Spurs, players who are scrapping for contracts and trying to pay mortgages.
“In Alli I see a player who is hungry for success. There is an edge to him, he wants to win and there is much to admire in such a young man.”
Alli will be expecting to feature for Tottenham when the Lilywhites take on Chelsea in the Premier League on Wednesday night.
