Arsenal legend: N’Golo Kante is special, the signing does the job of two Chelsea players
The former Arsenal defender says N'Golo Kante is a special player for Chelsea
Martin Keown believes N’Golo Kante does the job of two Chelsea players in Antonio Conte’s all-conquering side.
The France international completed a £32m move to Chelsea from Leicester City in the summer transfer window after the defensive midfielder inspired the Foxes to an unlikely Premier League title triumph.
Kante has quickly established himself as a regular in Conte’s Chelsea starting line-up this season after forging a promising midfield partnership with Serbia international Nemanja Matic.
The 24-year-old holding midfielder has scored one goal in 16 Premier League appearances in the 2016-17 campaign so far, finding the net in west London side’s 4-0 win against title rivals Manchester United at Stamford Bridge in October.
Former Arsenal defender Keown explained why he believes Kante is Conte’s most-impressive player.
“N’Golo Kante is a very special player. He does the job of two players and his work-rate affords Conte the luxury of being able to play Hazard and Pedro,” Keown told The Daily Mail.
“If Kante got injured, Conte may have to make two changes to bring in more defensive-minded players.”
Chelsea are six points clear at the top of the Premier League table ahead of Liverpool and Arsenal in the title race.
The west London side haven’t lost a top-flight fixture since a 3-0 lost to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in September.
