Arsenal legend reacts to possibility of Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez leaving The Emirates
Thierry Henry explains how Arsenal could survive without Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez
Thierry Henry believes Arsenal would be able to survive even if Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez left The Emirates.
The Gunners are currently believed to be negotiating with their two key men over new contracts amid growing uncertainty surrounding the futures of Ozil and Sanchez at the north London club.
The Chile international has been in scintillating form in Arsene Wenger’s side so far this season after a stunning return of 12 goals in his opening 16 Premier League games of the campaign.
The club’s record signing Ozil has also been in decent form for the Gunners after netting three times and making two assists in 15 Premier League games in the title race.
Ozil and Sanchez have failed to inspire Arsenal to Premier League title glory despite their impressive performances over the past couple of seasons at the Emirates Stadium.
Henry, who was part of Wenger’s last title-winning side in 2003-04, explained why Arsenal would still manager without Ozil and Sanchez if the unthinkable happened and the pair opted to leave the north London outfit.
“Arsenal Football Club will always be Arsenal Football Club,” Henry told Sky Sports News HQ on Monday.
“It was before, it was in our time, and it always be. You want to have those guys around to have the title.
“Is it going to be a blow if they leave? Yes, it would be a massive blow but the club isn’t going to die just because they’re leaving.”
