Paul Merson states his prediction for Arsenal v Stoke
Paul Merson looks ahead to Arsenal's Premier League clash with Stoke City on Saturday afternoon
Paul Merson is tipping Arsenal to secure a 2-1 victory over Stoke City in their Premier League clash at The Emirates on Saturday afternoon.
The Gunners head into the game looking to keep up their recent fine form after their 5-1 thrashing of West Ham United at the weekend.
Arsenal are currently in second place in the Premier League table as they prepare to host the Potters at The Emirates.
Arsene Wenger’s side head into the game on the back of their impressive 4-1 victory over FC Basel in the Champions League on Tuesday night night as they ended up topping Group A.
Arsenal are three points behind leaders Chelsea in the Premier League table as they bid to keep themselves in the title race heading into the hectic festive period.
And former Arsenal star Merson is tipping the Gunners to claim a narrow win on Saturday afternoon.
Writing in his column for Sky Sports, Merson said: “Stoke will cause problems at the Emirates because they have the right players in the right creative areas.
“You look at Arsenal’s recent home games – Middlesbrough and Bournemouth were a little unlucky – and Stoke have a better team than either of those two.
“If the Gunners get into an end-to-end battle, Stoke will enjoy that, especially the likes of Marko Arnautovic and Xherdan Shaqiri.
“I still expect the hosts to win, but it won’t be a walk in the park.”
Arsenal finished second and without a trophy last season.
