Ian Wright states prediction for Arsenal v West Brom
The former Arsenal striker issues a warning to the Arsene Wenger's players over the perils of facing West Brom
Ian Wright has backed Alexis Sanchez to help fire Arsenal to victory over West Brom despite warning that Arsene Wenger’s players could be in for a tricky Boxing Day clash.
Arsenal will be desperate to make a swift return to winning ways against the Baggies on Monday afternoon after suffering back-to-back Premier League defeats in their last two outings.
The Gunners lost 2-1 to Everton at Goodison Park earlier this month to end their 14-game unbeaten run in the Premier League after Seamus Coleman and Ashley Williams overturned Sanchez’s opener.
The north London side lost further ground on their title rivals last weekend after Arsenal succumbed to a 2-1 defeat by title rivals Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium after squandered a lead for the second successive game.
West Brom have lost their two of their last three Premier League games despite valiant performances against Chelsea and Manchester United.
Former Arsenal striker Wright warned the Gunners to expect a tough afternoon at The Emirates after tipping Sanchez to find the back of the net.
“Sanchez isn’t the problem. You’d have to say if anyone is going to score against West Brom [it’ll be Sanchez],” Wright told The Sun Goals podcast.
“The problem Arsenal will have is whether they’ve got the players with patience and the defensive capability to keep West Brom out.
“They’ve still got Matty Phillips and Chris Brunt with his left out. They’ve got Rondon, who can cause problems. Can they keep West Brom out while breaking down six or seven defenders at the back?”
