Arsene Wenger delivers latest Arsenal injury update on Alexis Sanchez
Arsene Wenger reveals that Alexis Sanchez had a minor back problem during Arsenal's win at West Ham
Arsene Wenger has revealed that Alexis Sanchez was suffering with a minor back problem at half-time during Arsenal’s 5-1 win over West Ham United on Saturday night.
The Chile international was in sensational form for the north London side as he set up Mesut Ozil’s opener before half-time.
Sanchez then proceeded to score a second-half hat-trick to add to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s goal as the Gunners wrapped up an impressive win at the London Stadium.
Speaking after the game, Arsenal boss Wenger revealed that Sanchez had complained of a minor back problem but then put any concerns to rest with his stunning second-half display.
Speaking at his post-match news conference, Wenger said of Sanchez’s injury problem: “He had a problem in his back at half-time, but he looked sharper in the second half than in the first!”
It remains to be seen whether Sanchez will be deemed fit to feature for Arsenal in their Champions League clash against FC Basel on Tuesday night.
