Arsene Wenger delivers verdict on new Arsenal signing Granit Xhaka
Arsene Wenger has been encouraged by what he has seen from Granit Xhaka this season
Arsene Wenger says that he has been encouraged by the speed at which Granit Xhaka appears to be adapting to life at Arsenal following his summer transfer to the club.
The Swiss midfielder joined the north London side from Borussia Monchengladbach in May and has already made a handful of appearances for the Gunners.
Xhaka has earned praise for the way he has adapted to life at The Emirates and has caught the eye with a number of impressive performances for the north London side.
Wenger says he has been pleasantly surprised by how quickly Xhaka has adapted to the rigours of the Premier League since his arrival in the summer.
The Arsenal boss is quoted as saying by The Daily Express: “He is adjusting. Coming to a new club, where there is a big competition for places… he has kept his focus and has done his job well every day.
“I believe he has adjusted to the intensity of the game already and the duels in the middle of the park.
“He has the stature to deal with that. He can bring a good balance between offensive efficiency and defensively as well. He has improved already all round.”
Xhaka will be hoping to feature for Arsenal when the Gunners return to Premier League action at the weekend with a home clash against Stoke City.
The Gunners are currently second in the table and three points behind leaders Chelsea after 14 games.
