Arsene Wenger drops hint about Arsenal’s January transfer business
Arsene Wenger hints that he will not be looking to bolster his Arsenal squad in the January transfer window
Arsene Wenger has hinted that he will not look to bring in any new players to Arsenal in the January transfer window.
The north London side are currently looking to get back to winning ways in the Premier League after they lost their last two games in the top flight.
Wenger watched his side lose 2-1 to both Everton and Manchester City in their last two outings to leave their Premier League title bid in doubt.
Arsenal are currently nine points behind leaders Chelsea heading into the hectic festive period in the Premier League.
There is bound to be plenty of speculation linking Arsenal with a host of players as the January transfer window draws nearer.
However, Wenger appeared to suggest that he is not looking to strengthen his squad in the January transfer window when quizzed on Friday morning at his news conference.
Asked if the Arsenal players returning from injury changes how he views the transfer window, Wenger replied: “Of course, because we have Lucas Perez, we have Olivier Giroud, we have Alexis Sanchez, we have Danny Welbeck, Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is nearly a striker.
“So we have plenty of options offensively.”
He added: “Defensively, we are not in the need [of new players] at the moment.”
Wenger’s Arsenal side are preparing to take on West Bromwich Albion at The Emirates on Boxing Day.
Wenger continued: “Like every manager, I suffer when we don’t win a game. In your mind you always have your next game.
“When you play on the 26th, it’s a game of a big importance and you know that you can’t switch off.”
