Arsene Wenger reacts to Alexis Sanchez’s display in Arsenal’s 5-1 win at West Ham

Arsene Wenger heaps praise on Alexis Sanchez following his stunning display for Arsenal against West Ham

Arsene Wenger lavished yet more praise on Alexis Sanchez after the Chilean’s stunning performance in Arsenal’s 5-1 win over West Ham on Saturday night.

The forward scored three times in the second half to help Arsenal on their way to victory after having set up the opener for Mesut Ozil before half-time.

Sanchez has now netted 11 goals and made four assists in the Premier League for Wenger’s men so far this season and has proved himself to be an integral part of the Arsenal team.

Sanchez is under contract at The Emirates until 2018 and it remains to be seen whether he will commit his long-term future to the north London club.

However, Wenger was clearly thrilled by what he saw from the 27-year-old once again as Sanchez ran the show for Arsenal against the Hammers.

Speaking to Arsenal’s website after the game, Wenger said: “Look, he has all the ingredients to be a top class striker and he shows that now in every game. In a game like that today, again he is quick, he is quick to close down, he can dribble, he has short backlift.

“He has a killer instinct and it shows again that the South Americans, at the moment in world football, are the leading strikers. You have to acknowledge that.

“If you look through the top strikers in Europe, they are basically all South American now.”
