Arsene Wenger reassures Arsenal fans about Alexis Sanchez contract
Arsene Wenger says Arsenal will do all they can to tie Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil down to new contracts
Arsene Wenger has moved to reassure Arsenal fans that the club is doing everything in its power to extend the contracts of both Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.
The duo’s futures have been a source of speculation in recent weeks following their strong starts to the season with the north London club.
Sanchez and Ozil both have 18 months left on their current deals with the Gunners and both players are believed to be in talks with the club about extending their contracts.
However, Wenger has admitted that the process can be slow as the north London side look to get their two talismanic players to commit to the club.
Speaking at a news conference on Thursday morning, Wenger said: “Like always, we will do the maximum we can for every single player.
“I’m not the only one who can decide that. A contract is a negotiation between two parties and on my side the best position is to achieve it earlier.
“These players will stay for at least 18 months. You have to accept negotiations are private and we do not have to explain every day the negotiations.
“We are professional people and we work until the last day of our contract with full commitment.”
Arsenal are currently preparing for their crunch Premier League clash with Stoke City at The Emirates on Saturday.
Sanchez has scored 11 goals and made four assists for Arsenal in the Premier League so far this season.
