Arsene Wenger: Why this Arsenal star is my leader

Arsene Wenger heaps praise on Alexis Sanchez following his sparkling form for Arsenal this term

Arsene Wenger has described Alexis Sanchez as Arsenal’s leader following his sparkling form for the Gunners this season.

The Chile international has been in sensational form for the north London club this term and has earned plenty of praise for his performances for the Gunners.

Sanchez has earned a reputation as one of the Premier League’s most exciting attacking players since his arrival at The Emirates from Barcelona in the summer of 2014.

The 27-year-old is hoping to help Arsenal win the Premier League title for the first time since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 campaign this season.

And Wenger has heaped praise on Sanchez for the strong performances he has shown for the north London side in recent weeks, saying he reminds him of Luis Suarez.

Wenger is quoted as saying by The Daily Star, before Arsenal’s trip to Manchester City on Sunday: He is my leader.

“He is comparable to Luis Suarez a bit in style.

“Sanchez surprises you a little bit because of his size. You do not expect such a dynamic, strong winning attitude. He is a leader on the football pitch because he is not scared of anybody. That is leadership.”
