Paul Merson states prediction for Bournemouth v Liverpool
The Arsenal legend is backing Liverpool to drop points against Bournemouth in the Premier League this weekend
Paul Merson believes Liverpool will drop points against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Reds will be looking to continue their impressive unbeaten record just days after booking their place in the EFL Cup semi-finals.
Liverpool haven’t lost a Premier League game since a 2-0 loss to Sean Dyche’s promoted Burnley side at Turf Moor in August.
The Merseyside outfit eased to a 2-0 victory over Championship side Leeds United to set up a League Cup semi-final against Southampton on Tuesday night.
Bournemouth, meanwhile, produced a good performance at The Emirates last weekend despite losing 3-1 to Arsene Wenger’s side following goals from Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott.
Former Arsenal midfielder Merson tipped Liverpool to slip up against Bournemouth in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon and be held to a draw.
“This is an absolute banana skin for Liverpool,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“I guarantee this will be a difficult afternoon for them. Bournemouth were bang unlucky against Arsenal last weekend – they played very well. Before that they beat Stoke and were unlucky to lose against Sunderland, they had chance after chance that day.
“Liverpool are carrying a few injuries and their squad isn’t massively deep.
“Bournemouth like to open the game up. Liverpool like to the open the game up. They’ll have a right go at each other. Goals will flow out of this one.”
Liverpool finished in eighth place in the Premier League table last season after Klopp was appointed as Brendan Rodgers’ successor back in October.
The Reds have never won the Premier League title despite finishing in second in 2009 and 2014.
