Charlie Nicholas predicts where Man United and Tottenham will finish this season
Charlie Nicholas has his say on Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur's Premier League hopes this season
Charlie Nicholas believes that neither Manchester United nor Tottenham are good enough to finish in the top four this season.
The Red Devils are currently in sixth place in the Premier League table after a stuttering start to life under new manager Jose Mourinho.
Spurs, meanwhile, currently occupy fifth place heading into the first round of festive fixtures after Christmas.
Manchester United have shown some signs of improved form in recent weeks and Mourinho has watched his side win their last three games on the spin in the Premier League.
Spurs have also been in decent form and have won three of their last four games in the Premier League.
However, former Arsenal star Nicholas believes neither team will finish in the Champions League qualification spots, and is instead tipping the top four to remain as it is.
Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ, Nicholas said: I don’t see Manchester United as good enough to get into that top four. They’re not clinical enough, they can’t see victories coming, they’re making excuses… they just don’t have the quality to get in there.
“Spurs are another one. They need to take advantage of other teams slipping up. I’d go with Liverpool, Chelsea, Man City and Arsenal [to finish in the top four]. ”
Manchester United host Sunderland on Boxing Day, while Tottenham travel to Southampton on 28 December.
