Chelsea legend: This Man United signing carrying Jose Mourinho’s attack
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has been impressed with Zlatan Ibrahimovic's start to life at Manchester United
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is carrying the Manchester United attack under Jose Mourinho, according to Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.
The Red Devils signed the Sweden international on a free transfer from Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window.
Ibrahimovic scored four times in his opening three games as a Manchester United player before enduring a tough September and October.
The 35-year-old striker has answered his critics in recent weeks after a return of six goals and one assist in his last five games in all competitions.
Only Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez, Chelsea striker Diego Costa and Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero have bettered Ibrahimovic’s return of eight goals in 13 Premier League fixtures.
Former Chelsea striker Hasselbaink heaped praise on Ibrahimovic after his prolific start to his Manchester United career.
“Going forward, he is carrying Manchester United. He is doing what needed to be done,” Hasselbaink told Sky Sports News HQ.
“He likes the pressure. He thrives on it. People say he is arrogant but he isn’t. He is taking a lot of pressure off players. When it gets tough, he is there.”
Ibrahimovic broke the deadlock at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon with an instinctive finish in the first half.
However, Marouane Fellaini brought down Idrissa Gueye to give Leighton Baines the chance to equalise from the penalty spot.
Manchester United’s 1-1 draw at Goodison Park was their third successive Premier League stalemate.
