Chelsea legend: Why I’m a fan of Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud
Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbaink explains why he is a big fan of Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud
Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbaink believes Olivier Giroud has a big role to play in Arsenal’s season.
The France international has struggled to secure a place in Arsene Wenger’s starting line-up this season after the Arsenal manager reverted to using Alexis Sanchez in a centre-forward role this term.
The Chile international scored a second-half hat-trick in the north London side’s 5-1 victory over West Ham United in the derby at the London Stadium on Saturday evening.
Sanchez has scored 11 goals in 14 Premier League games this term alongside Chelsea rival Diego Costa to help Arsenal challenge Antonio Conte’s side in the Premier League title race.
Giroud has taken his rare chances to shine in Wenger’s side when the French striker has been utilised from the substitutes’ bench, resulting in a return of three goals.
Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ on Monday morning, former Chelsea striker Hasselbaink explained why he is a big fan of Giroud.
“I like Olivier Giroud. He gives you something different. The combination of Giroud and Sanchez works really well. He brings a lot of attributes to Arsenal as well,” Hasselbaink told Sky Sports.
