Chelsea star makes honest admission about Diego Costa ahead of Bournemouth test
Thibaut Courtois has admitted that Diego Costa's absence will be a big blow for Chelsea on Boxing Day
Thibaut Courtois has admitted that Diego Costa’s absence will be a big blow for Chelsea during their Premier League clash against Bournemouth on Boxing Day.
Costa has been one of the Premier League’s top performers this season and was once again the hero as he scored Chelsea’s winner in their 1-0 victory at Crystal Palace last weekend.
However, Costa also picked up a suspension at Selhurst Park and will miss Chelsea’s home clash against Bournemouth on Boxing Day at Stamford Bridge.
Costa’s sparkling form has been one of the major factors in helping Chelsea to build a six-point lead at the top of the Premier League table this season.
And Courtois admits that the Spaniard’s absence will be felt strongly by the west London side next week.
Speaking in an interview with Chelsea’s website, Courtois said: “It’s a big blow because he’s a top striker.
“He scored his 13th goal of the season and he’s in top form. He’s been one booking away for many games now, so if he’d had a bit more luck he would have stayed like that until the New Year, when it’s gone, but hopefully Michy, or whoever the manager plays there, will do well.”
Chelsea finished in 10th place and without a trophy last season after they sacked Jose Mourinho back in December of last year.
