Michael Owen states his prediction for Chelsea v Bournemouth

Michael Owen is backing Chelsea to beat Bournemouth and continue their brilliant run in the Premier League

Michael Owen is backing Chelsea to make it 12 wins in a row in the Premier League by beating Bournemouth on Boxing Day.

The Blues have been the Premier League’s standout team so far this season and currently lead the way at the top of the table by six points.

Chelsea have established themselves as the firm favourites to lift the Premier League trophy this season after winning their last 11 games in the top flight.

Their impressive form has been in stark contrast to their struggles last season, when the Blues ended up in 10th place in the table, without a trophy and with their title defence in tatters.

And former Liverpool striker Owen is tipping Antonio Conte’s men to continue their strong form when they host Eddie Howe’s men at Stamford Bridge on Boxing Day.

Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: “If Chelsea beat Bournemouth on Boxing Day they will set a club record of 12 successive league wins and it is hard to see Eddie Howe’s side getting anything from the game.

“The loss of the outstanding Diego Costa through suspension is a blow to the league leaders but this Blues side have a winning mentality and it would be a surprise if the Cherries stopped them in their tracks.”
