Mark Lawrenson states prediction for Chelsea v Bournemouth
The former Liverpool defender doesn't anticipate Chelsea slipping up against Bournemouth
Mark Lawrenson is tipping Chelsea to beat Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge on Boxing Day.
The west London side were 1-0 winners against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park last weekend after Diego Costa’s first-half header in the London derby.
Chelsea have won their last 11 Premier League games to move Antonio Conte’s side six points clear of their closest rivals Liverpool in the title race.
The Blues haven’t lost a Premier League fixture since a 3-0 defeat at Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in September.
Chelsea will be without suspended Diego Costa and N’Golo Kante for the visit of Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge on Boxing Day.
However, former Liverpool defender Lawrenson is confident that Chelsea will secure three points against Bournemouth in their next Premier League clash on Monday.
“The wheels came off for Bournemouth a little bit in their defeat by Southampton last weekend,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.
“This is obviously a tough game for the Cherries to try to bounce back, even if top-of-the-table Chelsea are without suspended duo Diego Costa and N’Golo Kante as they try to make it 12 league wins in a row.
“Costa got crucial winners in two of Chelsea’s past three games, which were all hard-fought 1-0 wins against West Brom, Sunderland and Crystal Palace.
“I cannot see the Blues struggling to create chances against Bournemouth, though, and their formation means they will still be hard to break down even without having Kante in midfield.”
Chelsea finished in tenth place in the Premier League table last season after a disappointing campaign under Jose Mourinho and then interim manager Guus Hiddink.
The Blues signed five players in the summer transfer window.
