Paul Merson states his prediction for Chelsea v West Brom
Paul Merson looks ahead to Chelsea's clash with West Brom in the Premier League on Sunday
Paul Merson is tipping Chelsea to ease to comfortable 2-0 win over West Brom in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.
The Blues are in fine form in the Premier League and head into the game looking to continue their winning run and stretch it to nine games.
Chelsea are currently three points clear at the top of the Premier League table heading into this weekend’s round of fixtures.
West Brom have been in decent form of late but former Arsenal star Merson is tipping Antonio Conte’s men to have too much for the visitors at Stamford Bridge.
Writing in his column for Sky Sports, Merson said: “West Brom have done brilliantly so far, but it’s a big ask at Stamford Bridge. They will keep it tight, make it difficult and wait for set-pieces.
“Who could have seen them being a point behind Manchester United in early December? What an achievement.
“As for Chelsea, they have some very winnable games over Christmas and if they keep this run going, they could be hard to catch.”
Chelsea earned plenty of praise last weekend when they came from a goal down to beat Manchester City 3-1 at The Etihad and underline their status as genuine title contenders.
The Blues finished 10th and without a trophy last season following Jose Mourinho’s sacking in December 2015.
