Michael Owen states prediction for Chelsea v West Brom
The Liverpool legend is tipping Chelsea striker Diego Costa to fire the Blues to victory over West Brom
Michael Owen is backing in-form Diego Costa to fire Chelsea to victory over West Brom on Sunday afternoon.
The Blues forward scored his 11th Premier League goal of the 2016-17 season after the Spain international triggered Chelsea’s 3-1 comeback victory over title rivals Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
Only Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez has scored as many Premier League goals as Costa this season after the 28-year-old’s impressive start to the current campaign under new manager Antonio Conte.
Chelsea are second in the Premier League table and three points behind new leaders Arsenal ahead of the visit of the Baggies at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.
Former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Owen is backing Costa to score in a Chelsea victory over West Brom in west London.
“After an indifferent 2015/16 season Diego Costa has been quite magnificent leading the Chelsea line so far this term, and no surprise to see he is near the head of the market for the PFA Player of the Year given the start to the campaign he has made,” Owen wrote in his BetVictor column.
“It is hard to see anything other than a home win for Chelsea with the Brazilian born Spanish international likely to play a prominent role again.”
Costa moved to Chelsea in a £27m deal from La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid in the 2014 summer transfer window.
The Blues finished in tenth place in the Premier League last season.
