Chris Sutton makes prediction about Arsenal and Liverpool’s title hopes

Chris Sutton feels that Manchester City are better placed to win the title this season ahead of Arsenal or Liverpool

Chris Sutton believes that Manchester City will end up being Chelsea’s closest challengers for the title this season – ahead of Arsenal and Liverpool.

The Citizens will be looking to haul themselves back into the title race this weekend when they host Arsenal at The Etihad on Sunday afternoon following their recent disappointments against Chelsea and Leicester City.

Arsenal, meanwhile, will of course be looking to return to winning ways after their midweek defeat by Everton dented their title hopes.

And Liverpool are gearing up for Monday’s Merseyside derby showdown with Everton at Goodison Park.

However, Sutton feels that Manchester City are the most likely team to challenge Chelsea for the title and test the Blues’ credentials as the season unfolds.

Speaking to The Daily Mail, Sutton said: “I still believe Manchester City will provide the biggest test because there is so much more to come from them. On their day they are as good as anyone with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Sergio Aguero and David Silva. The Leicester defeat may have done Pep Guardiola a favour in forcing him to sort out City’s back line.

“As for Arsenal, how will they respond after the Everton defeat? It looks like they are less likely to capitulate this year but, like Costa for Chelsea, keeping Alexis Sanchez fit is the key.

“Liverpool have been a revelation. I like their brand of football but I’m not sure if they are strong enough to win the title.”

Chelsea are looking to win the title this season after their disastrous 10th-placed finish last term left them without a trophy following Jose Mourinho’s sacking in December 2015.
