Danny Mills: What’s different about Jose Mourinho at Man United
The former Manchester City defender believes Jose Mourinho has lost some of his X-Factor
Danny Mills believes Jose Mourinho has lost some of his X-Factor at Manchester United.
The Red Devils have made a stuttering start to life under the Portuguese coach after Mourinho was appointed as Louis van Gaal’s successor in May following the club’s fifth-place finish last term.
However, the 20-time English champions are starting to show signs of progress in recent weeks after a 1-0 win against top-four rivals Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Devils eased to a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace on Wednesday night thanks to Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s late winner at Selhurst Park to mark his ninth goal of the campaign.
However, former Manchester City defender Mills believes there is still something different about the former Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real Madrid manager at Old Trafford this term.
“Jose Mourinho seems to have almost lost that X-Factor that he had at Chelsea the first time and the second time,” Mills told Sky Sports News HQ.
“He doesn’t seem to be engaging with the press quite like he used to. Mourinho used to relish those arguments with the media but now it seems like he can’t really be bothered to deal with it. It seems a bit like a hassle.”
Manchester United will host West Brom in their next Premier League game at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils are six points behind fourth-placed Manchester City.
