Danny Murphy makes exciting Tottenham prediction about Harry Kane
The former Tottenham midfielder delivers his verdict on Harry Kane's new contract
Danny Murphy believes that there is even more to come from Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane after the England international committed his future to the north London club this week.
The Spurs talisman has signed a contract reported to be worth more than £100,000-a-week as the White Hart Lane outfit rewarded Kane for his influential performances over the past couple of seasons.
The 23-year-old has scored five times in eight Premier League appearances in the 2016-17 season ahead of the visit of Swansea City at White Hart Lane on Saturday afternoon.
Tottenham only managed to win one of their last six Premier League games in October and November to lose ground on their title rivals Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal.
However, former Spurs midfielder Murphy believes Kane’s new contract will give Tottenham a huge boost heading into the final 25 games of the 2016-17 campaign.
“Harry Kane looked as sharp against Chelsea as he has all season. The new contract will boost the fans as much as the players, but he is definitely coming back to his best,” Murphy told London Evening Standard.
“He needs to be at maximum fitness to be effective and it looks as though he is. I know Spurs are out of the Champions League but they should feel positive.
“They have a young squad, a great manager and a new stadium on the way. There is so much to look forward to.”
Tottenham finished in third place in the Premier League table last season after Kane netted 25 times in 37 top-flight fixtures.
