David James delivers verdict on Loris Karius and Liverpool
The former Liverpool goalkeeper believes Jurgen Klopp is trying to fix the wrong problem at Anfield
David James believes Jurgen Klopp is trying to fix the wrong problem at Liverpool after Simon Mignolet replaced Loris Karius in the German’s starting line-up for their 3-0 win at Middlesbrough on Wednesday night.
The Germany Under-21 international was relegated to the bench after the Liverpool signing struggled against Bournemouth and West Ham United in recent weeks prompting heavy criticism of Klopp’s summer signing.
The charismatic Liverpool manager turned to Mignolet to replace Karius and the Belgium shot stopper managed to keep a clean sheet in their comfortable victory at the Riverside Stadium.
Karius was signed in a £4.7m deal from Bundesliga side Mainz and Klopp handed his compatriot the number one shirt after Mignolet’s erratic performances over the past few seasons.
Former Liverpool shot stopper James believes the Merseyside club are focusing on the wrong problem ahead of the Merseyside derby at Anfield on Monday night.
