Glenn Hoddle reacts to Diego Costa’s display in Chelsea’s 1-0 win over West Brom

Glenn Hoddle was full of praise for Diego Costa after the striker hit the winner for Chelsea against West Brom

Glenn Hoddle was full of praise for Diego Costa after the striker fired Chelsea to a 1-0 win over West Brom at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

After a goalless first half in west London, Costa gave the home side the lead when he found the net in the 76th minute following a determined run to notch up his 12th Premier League goal of the season.

The victory hoisted Chelsea back to the top of the Premier League table and three points clear of second-placed Arsenal after 15 games of the new campaign.

And former England boss Hoddle believes that Costa deserves huge amounts of praise following his determination in the build-up to the opener.

Speaking during BT Sport‘s coverage of the game, Hoddle said: “For me, it’s all about Costa’s determination.

“His eyes lit up because there was a bit of space for him to run into. He’s had no space to run into [during the game].

“If you said, when he was chasing that ball down the right-hand side, that there was going to be a goal from that situation, you’d be betting against it.

“It was all about his determination and his belief that he was going to get something on it, and my word, what a finish.”
