Dortmund striker provides transfer update amid Arsenal, Man United link
The Borussia Dortmund striker casts doubt on his long-term future at the Bundesliga club
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has dropped a hint that he could leave Borussia Dortmund amid reported interest from the Premier League.
The Gabon international has scored 15 goals in 12 Bundesliga appearances this term, although Dortmund are languishing in sixth place and 11 points behind leaders RasenBallsport Leipzig.
The Independent reported that Manchester United are monitoring the 27-year-old’s situation at the Westfalenstadion ahead of the January transfer window.
Aubameyang was linked with a move to Arsenal in the summer, although a transfer failed to materialise as Arsene Wenger signed Lucas Perez from La Liga outfit Deportivo La Coruna.
The African striker scored twice in Dortmund’s 4-1 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga on Saturday afternoon to take his tally to 15 this term.
And Aubameyang offered his Premier League suitors encouragement after the Dortmund star admitted that he is unsure about his future at the Bundesliga side.
“I don’t know if I will stay,” Aubameyang is quoted as saying by Metro.
“I just think about playing good football right now. I want to give my best and win titles. I just think about the sport and nothing else.
“Last year I scored 18 goals before Christmas. I hope I can do better this year, but I also want to focus on the second half of the season.”
Manchester United drew 1-1 with Everton on Sunday afternoon after Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s opener was cancelled out by Leighton Baines’ late penalty.
