Eden Hazard has been impressing this former midfielder with his displays for Chelsea

Danny Murphy heaps praise on Eden Hazard for his sparkling displays for Chelsea in recent weeks

Danny Murphy heaped praise on Eden Hazard after the Belgian playmaker’s performance in Chelsea’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Hazard has been in good form for Chelsea this season to help the west London club bounce back from their disastrous 10th-placed finish last season.

The Belgian’s sparkling displays won him the Premier League player of the month award for November as Chelsea moved to the top of the table.

His performances have been in stark contrast to last season, when he and most of his Chelsea team-mates struggled to produce consistent displays as they ended up 10th.

And former Liverpool midfielder Murphy singled out Hazard for special praise after Chelsea’s win at Selhurst Park on Saturday.

Speaking on Match of the Day, Murphy said: “I had to pick him out because he was the difference.

“He gives them so much in terms of attacking. He has put the shift in defensively.

“He is so direct. He looks fit and he looks sharp. He caused Palace all sorts of problems.”

Chelsea are flying high at the top of the Premier League following their brilliant form under new boss Antonio Conte.

The Blues won the Premier League and League Cup in the 2014-15 season under Jose Mourinho
