Eden Hazard insists this unwanted statistic is not bothering him at Chelsea

Eden Hazard has been the most-fouled player in the Premier League this season

Eden Hazard has insisted that he is not concerned about the fact that he is the most-fouled player in the Premier League this season.

The Chelsea playmaker had been fouled a total of 54 times this term before the Blues’ Boxing Day clash against Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge.

The Belgium international has enjoyed a strong start to the new season under Antonio Conte at Chelsea after, like many of his team-mates, struggling to produce consistent form last term.

Hazard looks to be gradually recapturing the kind of form which earned him the PFA player of the year award in the 2014-15 season as he helped Chelsea win the Premier League title.

However, it seems that his fine performances come at a cost – and namely attracting more fouls from opposition players.

But the 25-year-old insists that he has become used to being fouled regularly by opponents.

Speaking in an interview with Chelsea’s website, Hazard said: “I think every year it is the same.

“When you’ve got the ball at your feet or you keep the ball, you have to be ready to get kicked so I don’t complain about this.

“I just want to be protected but it is football now and sometimes you get kicked and you get a free-kick or a penalty and it is a chance to score, so I am happy to do this.”
