Emmanuel Petit’s response when asked if Arsenal can win the title
The former Arsenal midfielder regretfully rules the Gunners out of the title race
Arsenal won’t win the Premier League title this season, according to Emmanuel Petit.
The Gunners have been in good form in the 2016-17 Premier League season despite losing 4-3 to rivals Liverpool in their opening game of the campaign at the Emirates Stadium in August.
Arsenal have managed to piece together a 13-game unbeaten run in the English top flight since that loss to Jurgen Klopp’s side.
The north London side’s best performance came in a 3-0 win against Chelsea at The Emirates in September, while the Gunners have drawn with Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
Speaking after Chelsea’s impressive 3-1 victory over Manchester City and ahead of Arsenal’s clash against West Ham United, Petit was already ruling the Gunners out of the title race.
Asked if he thinks Arsenal can win the title, Petit told BT Sport: “Not really no. I would love them to.”
Arsenal, who beat West Ham 5-1 in Saturday, finished in second place in the Premier League table last season but 10 points adrift of champions Leicester City.
