Jamie Redknapp names the key man in Everton v Liverpool
The former Liverpool midfielder explains why Adam Lallana holds the key to their chances of beating Everton
Jamie Redknapp believes Adam Lallana will be the key players when Everton host Liverpool at Anfield on Monday night.
The England international has been superb form in recent weeks following his return from injury in November.
The 28-year-old attacking midfielder broke the deadlock in a 2-2 draw with West Ham United at Anfield last weekend.
Lallana netted twice and made one assist in a 3-0 victory over Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium on Wednesday night.
The former Southampton captain has scored six goals and made six assists in 14 Premier League appearances in the 2016-17 season.
Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of Monday night’s Merseyside derby, Redknapp explained why Lallana holds the key to Liverpool’s hopes of beating Everton.
“I think he [Lallana] will be a key man at Goodison Park on Monday,” Redknapp told Sky Sports.
“When you’re a Liverpool player you always, always look out for the Everton fixture. It’s one of the games you want to win the most, and sometimes you need a little flash of quality from a player like Lallana.”
Liverpool can hoist themselves above Manchester City and into second place if the Reds manage to beat Everton.
The Citizens were 2-1 winners against title rivals Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium at the weekend.
The Reds are unbeaten in their last two Premier League games.
