Ex-Man United defender issues warning to Arsenal and top-four rivals
The former Manchester United defender is feeling more confident about the Red Devils' top-four prospects
Manchester United are putting their top-four rivals under pressure after their fourth successive Premier League victory, according to Paul McGrath.
The Red Devils eased to a 3-1 win against Sunderland on Boxing Day thanks to goals from Daley Blind, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan at Old Trafford.
The Dutch defender broke the deadlock with a precise finish before Ibrahimovic scored his 11th goal in 10 games in all competitions with eight minutes remaining.
However, Mkhitaryan netted the pick of Manchester United’s goals after a deft flick past Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford in the dying moments of the game.
The Red Devils are four points adrift of fourth-placed Arsenal and a further point behind Manchester City after successive victories over Tottenham Hotspur, West Brom and Crystal Palace ahead of the visit of Sunderland.
Former Manchester United defender McGrath is starting to feel confident about the Red Devils’ prospects in the top-four race.
