Ex-Man United midfielder: This is Liverpool’s biggest problem
The former Manchester United midfielder explains why Liverpool won't win the Premier League title
Johnny Giles has claimed that Jurgen Klopp doesn’t pay enough attention to his Liverpool defence.
The Reds have been one of the Premier League’s most-entertaining teams in the 2016-17 season so far after Klopp signed seven players in the summer transfer window.
Liverpool were 1-0 winners against Everton in the Merseyside derby before Christmas Day to underline their status as genuine title contenders.
However, the 18-time English champions conceded nine goals more than leaders Chelsea in their opening 17 games amid continued questions surrounding Klopp’s defence.
The Reds were heavily criticised after a 4-3 loss at Bournemouth at the start of December before a 2-2 draw with West Ham United in their subsequent outing.
Former Manchester United midfielder Giles doesn’t believe Klopp’s defence is consistent enough to help steer Liverpool to the Premier League title this term.
“The problem that Liverpool have is that it’s all go, go, go,” Giles told Newstalk.
“I don’t think Jurgen Klopp concentrates on defence in any way. There is a lack of consistency about them. Chelsea wouldn’t go to Bournemouth and concede four goals.”
Liverpool finished in eighth place in the Premier League table last season after Klopp replaced Brendan Rodgers back in October 2015.
